分別事識 [py] fēnbié shìshì [wg] fen-pieh shih-shih [ko] 분별사식 punbyŏl sasik [ja] フンベツジシキ funbetsu jishiki ||| (1) The consciousness that discerns the various phenomena (vastu-prativikalpa-vijñāna). 〔起信論 T 1666.32.577b〕(2) The mano (sixth) consciousness = 意識 (mano-vijñāna).

分別事識===(術語)楞伽經所說三識之一。八識中除阿賴耶識,為其他末那等七識之總稱,以對種種之境,而起虛妄分別故也,對真識則云事識。楞伽經一曰:「略說有三種識,廣說有八相,何等為三?謂真識、現識、分別事識。」起信論曰:「依諸凡夫取著轉深,計我我所,種種妄執,隨事攀緣,分別六塵,名為意識,亦名離識,又復說名分別事識。」同義記中末曰:「又能分別去來內外種種事相故,彼說為分別事識也。」又第八識十八名之第十五名也。以第八阿賴耶識為生一切分別事識之根本故也。唯識了義燈四本曰:「十五名識,無相論云:分別事識也。」
