Bhiŋsa (adj.) [=Vedic bhīṣma, of which there are 4 P. forms, viz. the metathetic bhiŋsa, the shortened bhisma, the lengthened bhesma, and the contractedbhīsa (see bhīsana). Cp. also Sk. -- P. bhīma; all of bhī] terrible; only in cpd. ˚rūpa (nt. & adj.) an awful sight; (of) terrific appearance, terrible, awful Jiii.242, 339; iv.271, 494.
