Definition[1]

Creativity. In modern philosophy creativity is associated with the problem of novelty. Whitehead, for instance, regarded creativity as the Category of the Ultimate. On his view the universe is continuously involved in creative advance. Berdyaev saw creation as selfcreation. All creation, human or divine, is in his view creatio ex nihilo. Such philosophical stances are by way of response to the question: how, in a universe governed by inexorable "laws", can novelty emerge?
