Dhūpa [Sk. dhūpa of Idg. *dhūp, enlarged fr. *dhū in dhunāti (q. v.)] incense J i.51, 64, 290 (gandha˚, dvandva, cpd.); iii.144; vi.42; PvA 141 (gandhap̄uppha˚). dh˚ŋ dadāti to incense (a room) J i.399. Sometimes misspelt dhūma, e. g. VvA 173 (gandhapuppha˚).
