Dūratissaka-vāpi

A tank in Rohana, near Mahāgāma. Meghavannābhaya, minister of Mahāsena, leading a revolt against the king, once encamped on its bank (Mhv.xxxvii.18). Saddhātissa built a vihāra near by (Mhv.xxxiii.9). Mahānāga gave to the ascetics one thousand fields watered by the tank (Cv.xli.99; see Cv.Trs.i.62, n.1), and Parakkamabāhu I, repaired the tank (Cv.lxxix.32). Geiger thinks (Mhv. Trs.248, n.5) that Dūratissa-vāpi is probably identical with Dūravāpi.
