Ikkyū Sōjun (1394-1481)

A Japanese zen monk of the Rinzai lineage known primarily for his uncompromising rigour in Zen training and practice, balanced by his often eccentric behaviour and his ardent love late in his life for a blind female entertainer named Mori. He left no disciples to carry on his own teachings, but did leave behind some collections of verse, notably the Crazy Cloud Anthology.
