Madhva (1197-1276). Vedanta philosopher ranking in importance with Shankara and Ramanuja among commentators on Vedanta thought. In contrast to Shankara, who was a monist, Madhva was a pluralist in his interpretation of Vedanta. He identified God with Vishnu.
