Mahīśāsaka
One of the major Eighteen Schools of Early Buddhism, thought to have been a 2nd century bce offshoot of the Vibhajyavādins. Based on present knowledge of its Abhidharma doctrines, it is sometimes considered to be a mainland Indian parent school linked to Sri Lankan Theravāda.
