Pacchābhūmaka Sutta (=Mataka Sutta)
Once, when the Buddha was at the Pāvārika ambavana, Asibandhakaputta visits him and asks if he claims to be able to send men heavenwards as do the Pacchābhūmaka brahmins.
The Buddha explains to him that a man's destiny depends on the life he leads; no one else can send him to heaven or to a place of suffering. S.iv.311f.
