pañca-avara-bhāgīya: 'Five fetters pertaining to the lower portion', i.e., to the kāma-dhātu. They comprise: satkāya-dṛṣṭi, śīla-vrata-parāmarśa, vicikitsā, kāmacchanda and vyāpāda.
