Pañcanadī, Pañcamahānadī
In several places in the texts five rivers are mentioned as the five great rivers of India, and they are used in various similes and metaphors. These rivers are:
- Gangā,
- Yamunā,
- Aciravatī,
- Sarabhū and
- Mahī.
