Paṇḍu (adj.) [cp. Ved. pāṇḍu, palita, pāṭala (pale -- red); Gr. pelitno/s, pello/s, po/lios (grey); Lat. palleo (to be pale), pullus (grey); Lith. patvas (pale -- yellow), pilkas (grey); Ohg. falo (pale, yellowish, withered); E. pale] pale -- red or yellow, reddish, light yellow, grey; only at Th 2, 79 (kisā paṇḍu vivaṇṇā), where paṇḍu represents the usual up -- paṇḍ' -- uppaṇḍuka -- jātā: "thin, pale and colourless" see ThA 80). Otherwise only in cpds., e. g.
