:
Paradigm. From the Greek paradeigma, model, pattern. A term used in philosophy to designate a case that can be taken to stand as exhibiting the fundamental issue that is being argued about: a paradigmatic case. In the philosophy of science basic models, paradigms, are used in building up a cosmology or other structure intended to exhibit how things are. These paradigms will change or be modified as new theories develop and new knowledge is obtained.
