Definition[1]

Space-Time. Space and time are traditionally regarded as ultimate categories. The concept of space-time appears in modern philosophical thought as the ultimate matrix out of which everything else is evolved. The German physicist and mathematician Hermann Minkowski ( 1864-1909) joined the three dimensions of space with time as a fourth dimension and regarded the four dimensions as coordinates. All objects and events must be seen, then, as fourdimensional and events, past and future, are present in the space-time continuum. Einstein took Minkowski's concept of space-time as the basis for his own theory. Einstein's view of space-time tends to support a Spinozistic metaphysic.
