Tao-an (312-85)
An early Chinese Buddhist monk and literary scholar renowned for textual-critical work that helped to sort genuine from spurious scriptures, identify textual variants and translations, and produce the earliest bibliography of Buddhist works in China. He also wrote commentaries on existing scriptures and helped to set new guidelines and standards for translating Buddhist texts from Indian languages into Chinese.
