Thudhamma
Name of the largest monastic order or gaing in Burma, comprising 88.6 per cent of all monks in 1980. The group comprises those who remained under the control of the Thudhamma Assembly (or Council) after the Shwegyin gaing was established around 1860. The Thudhamma outnumbers the Shwegyin by a ratio exceeding 12:1.
