Travers Christmas Humphreys (1901-83)
A pioneer of Buddhism in England, Humphreys converted to the religion in his late teens and later became a barrister and High Court judge. He founded the Buddhist Lodge of the Theosophical Society in 1924, which later changed its name to the Buddhist Society in 1943. See also Britain.
