Trimūrti. This Sanskrit term designates the Hindu triad manifesting three functions of divine Being: (1) Brahmā, the equilibrium between the two opposing principles represented respectively by the other two members of the triad; (2) Viṣṇu, whose function is primarily that of preserver; and (3) Śiva, who represents destruction.
