vīrya-pāramitā
(Sanskrit). The Perfection of Strenuousness, the fourth of the Six Perfections (ṣaḍ-pāramitā) that make up the central element of the Bodhisattva Path in Mahāyāna Buddhism. The cultivation of this virtue involves unselfish application and effort to benefit others, as well as self-development, often at considerable personal expense. See also vīrya.
