據大乘起信論之說，緣於不覺之故，凡夫遂產生三細六粗之相。三細指無明業相、能見相、境界相，六粗指智相、相續相、執取相、計名字相、起業相、業繫苦相；三細六粗合稱九相。（參閱「三細六粗」617）
