日本佛塔建築用語。又作空輪。乃突出於塔頂上的九層金輪中之相輪。佛寺建築中,塔之「平頭」上有重重之輪盤形建築,通常稱為相輪、盤蓋或承露盤;在日本,於三重五重之塔中,相輪之輪數若固定為九重者,則特稱為九輪。九輪最底輪稱「一輪」,往上漸次為二輪至第九輪。古代印度所造塔頂亦置有九輪。此外,作為貴族標幟之傘蓋(梵 chattra)亦有九輪。(參閱「承露盤」3254、「相輪」3911、「塔」5421)

The nine wheels or circles on the top of a pagoda, also called 空輪the wheels of space; the nine should only be on the stūpa of a Buddha, others are entitled to as many as eight and a few as one.

(物名)又曰空輪。為安於塔頂九重之金輪也。有九重,故云九輪。在空中故云空輪。皆俗稱也。本名相輪、輪相、金剎、金幢、露盤等。輪相之數,依人而有多少。法苑珠林三十七曰:「十二因緣經云:有八人得起塔,一如來、二菩薩、三緣覺、四羅漢、五阿那含、六斯陀含、七須陀洹、八輪王。若輪王已下起塔,安露盤,見之不得禮,以非聖塔故。初果二露盤,乃至如來安八露盤,八盤已上,並是佛塔。」
