日本佛塔建築用語。又作空輪。乃突出於塔頂上的九層金輪中之相輪。佛寺建築中，塔之「平頭」上有重重之輪盤形建築，通常稱為相輪、盤蓋或承露盤；在日本，於三重五重之塔中，相輪之輪數若固定為九重者，則特稱為九輪。九輪最底輪稱「一輪」，往上漸次為二輪至第九輪。古代印度所造塔頂亦置有九輪。此外，作為貴族標幟之傘蓋（梵 chattra）亦有九輪。（參閱「承露盤」3254、「相輪」3911、「塔」5421）

（物名）又曰空輪。為安於塔頂九重之金輪也。有九重，故云九輪。在空中故云空輪。皆俗稱也。本名相輪、輪相、金剎、金幢、露盤等。輪相之數，依人而有多少。法苑珠林三十七曰：「十二因緣經云：有八人得起塔，一如來、二菩薩、三緣覺、四羅漢、五阿那含、六斯陀含、七須陀洹、八輪王。若輪王已下起塔，安露盤，見之不得禮，以非聖塔故。初果二露盤，乃至如來安八露盤，八盤已上，並是佛塔。」
