(一)契證真理。大乘義章卷一(大四四‧四八一下):「證會名之為入。」
(二)解知事物之意。無量壽經卷上(大一二‧二六六中):「入眾言音,開化一切。」
(三)指梵語、巴利語
āyatana 之舊譯,新譯為處。即根境相涉入而生識稱為入;如十二入,新譯作十二處。〔唯識二十論〕(參閱「十二處」343、「處」4782)
(四)心或心作用之根據或端緒之意。維摩經卷上(大一四‧五三九中):「是身如毒蛇、如怨賊、如空聚,陰界諸入所共合成。」同經卷中(大一四‧五四六上):「求法者,非有色受想行識之求,非有界入之求。」
