常不輕 [py] chángbùqīng [wg] ch'ang-pu-ch'ing [ko] 상불경 sangbulgyŏng [ja] ジョウフギョウ jōfugyō ||| (1) To never despise; never look down upon; never take lightly. (2) Sadāparibhūta. The name of a bodhisattva in the Lotus Sutra; this was also a name of Śākyamuni in one of his previous lifetimes as a bodhisattva, when he saw the equality in all beings in their possession of the buddha-nature. 〔法華經 T 262.9.50c16]

Sadāparibhūta, the monk who never slighted others, but assured all of buddhahood, a former incarnation of Śākyamuni; Lotus Sutra 20.
