The Mīmāṃsa system of Indian philosophy founded by Jaimini, especially the Pūrva-mīmāṃsa. It was 'one of the three great divisions of orthodox Hindu Philosophy ,' M. W. Cf, the Nyāya and Saṃkhyā.

梵名 Mīmājsā 之音譯。又作彌曼蹉、彌息伽。意譯為考察研究。印度六派哲學之一派。重祭祀且主張聲為常住者,即所謂之聲顯論師。古印度研究吠陀之學說,可分二派:一派基 於梵書前半之儀軌及釋義,以祭祀之實行為主,且論究會通其疑義與異說;一派基於梵書後半之奧義書,以研究梵為主。此二派合稱彌曼差。又前者特稱弭曼差、業 弭曼差、前弭曼差,後者稱吠檀多、智弭曼差、後弭曼差。〔般若燈論釋卷十三、成唯識論卷一、聲顯論]
