教相與觀心。教相是依所立的宗義去分別判斷釋迦佛一代的教義；觀心是觀念自己宗派所立的真理。如天台宗以五時八教為教相，以一心三觀為觀心；真言宗以顯密二教十住心為教相，以阿字不生為觀心。
