用即力用，謂以大乘妙法，開示圓機。在跡門，令斷權疑而生實信；在本門，令斷近疑而生遠信，故名斷疑生信為用也。（跡門者，此經二十八品，前十四品所談是也。跡猶足跡，如人住處，則有行往之跡。謂如來從久遠之本，以垂近成之跡也。本門者，後十四品所談是也。本猶根本，謂如來開近成之跡，以顯久遠之本也。）
