(1) 'No self-nature' (niḥsvabhāvatva, niḥsvabhāva). (2) That which does not really exist; non-existence; lacking real substance. (3) The lack of inherent existence that could be attached to: emptiness. (4) Lacking buddha-nature. A being who cannot be enlightened no matter how much they strive. (5) *Asvabhāva, an Indian Yogācāra scholar who wrote a commentary on the Mahāyāna-saṃgrāha (攝大乘論無性釋).
