The heaven of no heat (atapāḥ), which is the fifth of the eight heavens of the fourth dhyāna of the form realm 四禪天. Also listed as one of the seventeen meditation heavens of the form realm 色界十七天.
The Anavatapta, or Atapta heaven, without heat or affliction 熱惱; the second of the 五淨天 in the fourth dhyāna heaven.
色界五淨天之第二天名。
熱即熱惱。謂此天機括獨行,研交無地,故名無熱天也。(機括獨行者,機謂弩牙,括與筈同,謂箭所受絃之處,皆取可發之義,以喻於心也。前苦樂之境雖滅,猶存能滅之念,故云機筈獨行。至此天中,研究此心與境交接之念,無依無處,則無熱惱,故云研交無地也。)
無熱天===大毗婆沙論一百七十六卷一頁云:云何無熱天?謂無熱天一類伴侶,乃至廣說。問:彼天何故名無熱耶?答:彼是假名假想。乃至廣說。復次彼天身無熱惱,心無熱惱;一期領受純清涼樂,非下所有;故名無熱。復次彼天審見苦真是苦,乃至道真是道;離下所起煩惱蒸熱;故名無熱。復次無煩天中,鄰逼下地所起增上煩惱火故;猶名為熱。此超彼故,名無熱天。##二解 集異門論十四卷十頁云:云何無熱天?答:謂此與彼諸無熱天,同一類,為伴侶,共眾同分,依得事得處得皆同。又若生在無熱天中所有無覆無記色受想行識蘊,是名無熱天。復次以無熱天,於苦見苦,於集見集,於滅見滅,於道見道,故名無熱天。復次以無熱天,身無熱惱,心無熱惱。由彼身心無熱惱故;領受寂靜遍淨無漏微妙諸受。故名無熱天。復次此是彼名異語增語諸想等想施設言說,謂無熱天。故名無熱天。
