指眾生一期之四種相。又稱四相、四苦。眾生出生之相稱為生相,老衰之相稱為老相,病患之相稱為病相,死亡之相稱為死相。增一阿含經卷十九謂,持有、無之見者,不能脫離生老病死、愁憂苦惱。〔無常經、無量壽經卷上〕(參閱「四苦」1736)
