「界內」之對稱。即指欲界、色界、無色界等三界外之國土。三界乃凡夫生死往來之世界，於此三界外，尚有諸佛菩薩之淨土，此即稱為界外。法華經卷二譬喻品（大九‧一三下）：「以佛教門，出三界苦；怖畏險道，得涅槃樂。」〔大智度論卷九十三〕
