指有情眾生尚未修具功德以資莊嚴之法身。為天台宗所說。相當於天台宗所判六即位中之「理即佛」。法華經玄義卷八上（大三三‧七七五下）：「一切眾生皆有法身，法身體素，天、龍之所忽劣；若修學定、慧，莊嚴法身，則一切見敬也。」又天台四教儀（大四六‧七七九上）：「今雖然即佛，亦是素法身，無其莊嚴。」
