 纏 [py] chán [wg] ch'an [ko] 전 chŏn [ja] テン ten ||| (1) To catch, capture, seize. (paryā) (2) The afflictions in an active, manifest 現行 state, as contrasted to the condition of defilements in their Ina-Zctive, or latent state 隨眠. Equivalent to 現行煩惱〔二障義HPC 1.793a〕 (3) In a looser interpretation, can be interpreted synonymously with the term "affliction" (煩惱) or as the condition of constraint that is resultant of the manifest activity of the defilements. (Pali pariyuṭṭhāna), or pollution, stain, etc. 垢. 

Definition[4]

梵語 paryavasthāna。指心之纏縛,能妨礙修善。為煩惱(尤指隨煩惱)之異名。無慚、無愧、嫉、慳、悔、睡眠、掉舉、惛沈等八隨煩惱,稱為八纏。八纏加忿、覆,則為十纏。又經部稱煩惱之種子(潛勢位)為隨眠;對此,謂煩惱之現行(顯勢位)為纏。〔大毘婆沙論卷四十七、卷五十、品類足論卷一、雜集論卷七、瑜伽師地論卷八十

二解 瑜伽八卷六頁云:數起現行,故名為纏。 
 
三解 瑜伽八十四卷十三頁云:又現起相續無斷絕義,說名為纏。纏有八種。謂無慚等。 
 
四解 集論四卷十二頁云:數數增盛,纏繞於心;故名為纏。 
 
五解 入阿毗達磨論上十五頁云:此十纏縛身心相續,故名為纏。
