解 (1) The most literal meaning is to untie or unravel (a knot, a problem, etc.); thus the meaning of liberation (mokṣa, parimocana), to be liberated. To be awakened, awakening. (2) Understanding, knowledge; dissolving doubt. (3) Explanation, interpretation. (4) The understanding that is based on faith.
