Definition[1]

Ājñāta-kauṇḍinya. One of the first five monks 五比丘 who originally practiced asceticism with Śākyamuni, and who heard his first sermon at the Deer Park. Śākyamuni praised him for being the first to have attained the "dharma-eye (法眼)." His actual name was Kaundinya 憍陳如. Ājñāta which means "the first to know" 初知 or simply "known" 已知, was added as an honorific title.

Definition[2]
