Tung Lin Kok Yuen is a Buddhist charity with global reach. However, its headquarters can only be the original Tung Lin Kok Yuen, which is a venerable Chinese building standing proudly on Shan Kwong Road in Happy Valley. Originally a single Buddhist seminary for the training of nuns, it was established by Lady Clara Ho Tung (second wife of Sir Robert Ho Tung) in 1935. This album is a snapshot of 21st-century Tung Lin Kok Yuen, which has retained its imperial Chinese architecture and certain components of classical Western influence. Tung Lin Kok Yuen has been listed by the Hong Kong government as a Grade I Historic Building since 2009, and will always remain an indispensable part of the city's Buddhist and modern heritage.
