The Lankatilaka Temple ruins can be found in the ancient capital city of Polonnaruwa, an important Buddhist archaeological site dating back to the 12th century. This brief introduction offers a visual idea of the architectural landscape when planning a visit to this UNESCO World Heritage site.

Narrative Text:

In the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, there are many ancient relics worth seeing. The Buddha statue in Gal Vihara Temple is just one of many diverse relics. I am now at the archeological site of Lankatilaka Temple, and we can see the beautiful work of the original design. The Buddha statue in the middle of the temple evokes a feeling of the Buddha's greatness and extraordinary qualities. The craftsmen designed the temple in order to provide the place for Buddhist worship. For instance, in this ancient area, there are many meditation paths. When people practice walking meditation on those paths, they can easily enter a state of mind in purity and stillness.
