Mindfulness is a prominent emerging theory in the field of medicine. Most studies refer to mindfulness as described by Jon Kabat-Zinn, who defines mindfulness as paying attention to the present moment, without judgment. Mindfulness-based interventions generally use meditation as the mechanism to increase mindfulness. Although this is the most common way of integrating mindfulness in the field of medicine, it is not the only way. In this interview, Dr. Francesco Pagnini will discuss another approach to mindfulness, which does not necessarily require meditation and can be easily incorporated in everyday life. This approach is rooted in over 40 years of research.

Dr. Francesco Pagnini (Ph.D. Clinical Psychology, Psy.D. Integrated Psychotherapy) is Assistant Professor at the Catholic University of Milan and post-doctoral Associate at Harvard University. He has been affiliated with the Karolinska Institute (Sweden), and is a consultant for NASA (USA).
