Definition[1]
:
Cāla Thera
Son of Cālā and nephew of Sāriputta. He was ordained by Khadiravaniya-Revata (Thag.vs.42; ThigA.i.110).
He is mentioned as living at the Kūtāgārasālā, which place he left when the Licchavis caused disturbance by their visits to the Buddha (A.v.133). In this context he is spoken of as a very eminent Elder and was, therefore, evidently an arahant.
