中陰  (1) The intermediate state after death and before rebirth into another existence (antarā-bhava). (2) The first forty-nine days after death.

The intermediate existence between death and reincarnation, a stage varying from seven to forty-nine days, when the karma-body will certainly be reborn; v. 中有.

（術語）又云中有。死此生彼，中間所受之陰形也。陰者五陰之陰（新譯云五蘊），俱舍宗以為有一定之中陰，成實宗以為無之，大乘宗以為有無不定。謂極善極惡之人，無中陰，直至所至。餘皆有之。大乘義章八曰：「命報終謝，名為無有。生後死前，名為本有。兩身之間，所受陰形，名為中有。」文句四曰：「中陰倒懸諸根皆毀壞。」【參見: 中有】
