苦行林 [py] kŭxínglin2 [wg] k'u-hsing-lin [ko] 고행림 kohaengnim [ja] クギョウリン kugyōrin ||| A forest inhabited by world-renunciant religious practitioners (śramaṇa). Also refers specifically to Uruvelā forest, where Śākyamuni carried out his ascetic practices prior to his awakening.
(Skt. tapo-vana). Also translated as 木瓜林 and transliterated as 優樓頻螺. 〔無量壽經連義述文贊 T 1748.37.137c8〕

梵名 Tapovana，巴利名同。佛陀修苦行六年之地。昔稱優樓頻螺（巴 Uruvelā），即今印度佛陀伽耶大塔南側五百餘公尺之處，目支鄰陀村（梵 Mucilinda，巴 Mucalinda）之東，然至今僅存雜木一叢。〔佛本行集經卷二十五、方廣大莊嚴經卷七、大唐西域記卷八摩揭陀國條〕
